I’m delighted that you’ve landed on my website. I hope you enjoy my mixed media meanderings and find something to inspire your own creativity and sense of wonder.
I used to think I could never be an artist because growing up I lacked drawing ability. Now I know that we are ALL artists – we must simply find our own voice and our own way to create. I’m mostly self-taught, although I do love taking classes (both online and in person) to learn new skills and explore new mediums.
I live and work in the mountains of western North Carolina. I spend my time here with my husband and beloved dog, and work part time at a heavenly little spot called Thyme in the Garden. The people and plants there nourish my soul.
I love many different art forms. I get most excited about combining different things….collage with acrylic paint, textile fibers with found objects, fabric with paint and paper. Exploring texture makes my heart sing.
I marvel at the natural beauty of the world around me, especially the stunning wonders of North Carolina’s mountains, beaches, waterfalls and wildlife. I’m inspired by nature and much of my art features finds from my daily walks. I’m also inspired by the archetypal power of the Divine Feminine. In the words of Layne Redmond, “She is our future as she was our past. With her drum in hand, playing her sacramental rhythms, women can once again take their place in the world as technicians of the sacred. In the pulse of my drum, in the beat of my heart, I erect an altar to her forever. “ (When Women Were Drummers, by Layne Redmond) My Spirits & Sprites collection is my own way of honoring the Divine Feminine.
My Spirits & Sprites are currently available for purchase at two galleries in western North Carolina....The Gallery at Flat Rock, NC and Flow Gallery in Marshall, NC.
